Exista o fascinatie aparte pe care o are Peloponezul. E ceva aproape material, ce incepe cu o energie buna a locurilor si oamenilor, si continua cu o combinatie excelenta de patrimoniu cultural si comori naturale, pe care o simte orice calator in cautare de experiente autentice. Pe scurt, o destinație remarcabilă pentru explorare, distracție, relaxare și un contact pur cu natura și cultura. Totodata, ramane un spatiu cosmopolit, fara traditionalism excesiv, in care parfumul cochet al micilor localitati este punctat de lux si modernitate bine inteleasa, ce pune in valoare vestigiile istorice si natura, protejand-o, fara a impune restrictii vizibile calatorului.Cunoscuta ca peninsula Peloponez, este de fapt, o insula, fiind despartita de continent prin legendarul Canal Corinth, si are propriul aeroport, in Kalamata, ceea ce-i asigura conexiuni bune cu restul lumii.

In drumul nostru spre extrema de sud-est, catre Monemvasia, mi-au atras atentia 3 mici localitati pitoresti, pe care le-am simtit ca niste escape-uri perfecte pentru iubitorii de boem, liniste si vederi fara filtru la apele turcoaz ale marii. Iata ce-am descoperit:

Areopoli, perfect pentru lumina blanda de octombrie, imbina magic arhitectura moderna cu cea veche, bine reprezentata de turnuri, fie ca sunt ale unor monumente istorice, fie ale cladirilor si case din piatra. Nu este pe malul marii, insa e aproape si plaja, la 8 km, in Karavostasi, unde se afla si vechiul port. Are o liniste tihnita, ce imbie la relaxare prelunga la o cafea dimineata, la o taverna insorita si ademeneste la un pahar de vin, seara, la o cina cu povesti si rasete.

Gytheio sau Gythion este un oraș antic, situat lângă gura râului faimosul râu Eurotas în Golful Laconic. Micul doc, casele neoclasice aflate pe panta muntelui Akoumaro și străzile grafice înguste dintre clădiri sunt cateva repere caracteristice. Gytheio este o destinație ideală pentru vacanțe de vară și relaxare, ce indeamna la o plimbare pe doc, unde puteți gusta pește proaspăt, direct de la pescari. In taverne este omniprezenta specialitatea tradițională locală: caracatița la grătar, o încântare pentru cina pe malul marii, in sunet de valuri și briza racoroasa a serilor grecești.

Archangelos este un sat pescăresc tradițional din Lakonia, în sud-estul Peloponezului, are o plajă, un port mic si un golf. Plaja  Archangelos a primit mentiunea de Blue Flag, certificând astfel apele sale excelente. Satul de pescuit micut si liniștit, cu doar 35 de locuitori, este un loc ideal pentru vacanțe superbe pe tot parcursul anului, sporturi maritime și pescuit. Fiind ca o fâșie de pământ în mare, oferă vizitatorului impresia că se afla pe o insula, unde totul decurge intr-un ritm aparte, acel placut si dezirabil dolce far niente grecesc 🙂

There is a special fascination that Peloponnese has. It is something almost material, starting with a good energy of places and people, and continues with an excellent combination of cultural heritage and natural treasures that every traveler feels for authentic experiences. In short, a remarkable destination for exploration, fun, relaxation and pure contact with nature and culture. At the same time, it remains a cosmopolitan destination without excessive traditionalism, where the chic perfume of the small towns is dotted with well-understood luxury and modernity, which highlights historical vestiges and nature, protecting it without imposing any visible restrictions on the traveler.

Known as the Peloponnese Peninsula, it is actually an island, being separated from the mainland by the legendary Corinth Canal, and has its own airport in Kalamata, which provides good connections with the rest of the world.

On our way to Monemvasia, I noticed three small picturesque locations, which I felt like perfect escapes for bohemian lovers, silence and untouched views to the turquoise waters of the sea. Here’s what I found:

Areopoli, is perfect for the gentle light of October, and combine in a magical way the modern architecture with the old one, well represented by the towers, whether they are historical monuments or buildings and houses of stone. It is not on the seashore, but it is close to the beach, 8 km away, in Karavostasi, where is the old port.

Gytheio  or Gythion, is an ancient city, located in the southern Peloponnese, near the river mouth of the famous Eurotas River in the Laconic Bay. It is characterized by the small dock, the neoclassical houses standing on the slope of the Akoumaro Mountain and the graphical narrow streets between the buildings. Gytheio is an ideal destination for summer holidays and relaxation. You can walk along the dock and taste the fresh fish, coming directly from the fishermen, in the taverns and the traditional local specialty; the barbecued octopus. It is unique moment of delight to have dinner next to the waves with your company and the cool breeze of the Greek evening. You can also see the fishermen coming back from the sea and unload the fish on the dock, relaxing in one of the cafes of the city.

Archangelos is a traditional fishermen village in Lakonia in the south-eastern Peloponnese, with  a sandy beach, a small port, a Creek. Archangelos Beach has also been awarded the Blue Flag, certifying its excellent waters. The peaceful fishing village is an ideal place for relaxing holidays all year round, sea sports and fishing. Being like a strip of land in the sea, gives the visitor the impression that it is an island.
